Meet Elisa. A warm and cheerful soul, she and her husband of fifty-six years have been living out Kingdom work in Guatemala for more than five decades.
Elisa first came to a Thrive retreat fourteen years ago at the recommendation of her husband. They were headed to the States on furlough when he came across Thrive's ministry and suggested she go be refreshed. She was specifically blessed by fellowship with sisters in Christ from around the globe. As an older woman who was watching many colleagues transition off the field for one reason or another, seeing the younger generation rising up to serve was a tremendous encouragement. It also inspired her to hear of God’s hand in other places and be reminded of His faithfulness in bringing His Kingdom purposes to pass.
Since that first retreat, Elisa has attended the online Gather event, a great enjoyment. Now she is back with us at Copper Mountain, grateful for God’s timing of this retreat which coincided nicely with an already-planned trip to the U.S.
Even just a brief conversation with Elisa reveals that she is a life-long learner, an investor in people of all ages, and an eager participant in every activity – from prayer sessions to pedicures and impromptu fashion shows! Most of all, Elisa is a lover of the Lord and making Him known! She is still taking intentional time to refresh body and soul in order to continue that good work.
Thrive is humbled to be part of lives such as Elisa. Through the years, ministry facets have grown and adapted. But Thrive’s vision has stayed the same. Retreats continue allowing women like Elisa a place of refreshment and safety to share openly with those who “get their life.” Faithfulness to provide supportive care for these women enables Elisa and her new friends to faithfully serve long-term, bringing glory to our Everlasting God!
