What do a teal-colored gift bag, mini Etch a Sketch, and Psalm 91 have in common? Each was used by our loving Heavenly Father to remind one of His daughters of His lavish love for her.
When the global workers registered for this retreat, they were asked to provide a list of items they missed from the United States. The volunteers then shopped from these lists and brought the gifts to Cape Town for a special surprise.
Volunteer Lynn carefully packed her gifts in a randomly selected teal-colored gift bag. Attendee J was overcome just seeing the bag - teal is her favorite color! She exclaimed, “How did you know?” Lynn didn’t know, but J’s Heavenly Father did! The items in the bag were great, but seeing her favorite color on the bag showed J that Lord was thinking about her.
Volunteer Deb shopped for attendee Brittani. Deb bought some items but felt the Lord telling her to visit the toy shop. She doesn’t have children, so this felt a bit strange, but she obeyed and picked out a mini Etch a Sketch. Brittni, meanwhile, had shopped in the afternoon, searching Cape Town for a mini Etch a Sketch for her children. But she couldn’t find one. Imagine her total delight and surprise when she opened her gift bag that night and discovered a mini Etch a Sketch! Obviously, the Lord was thinking of her and gave her just what she wanted!
Volunteer Paula brought with her some notes written by her senior praying friends to the global workers. The notecards had Psalm 91 on the front. Paula had them on the table when a woman entered for a prayer session. She saw Psalm 91 on the card and exclaimed, “Is that for ME?” Psalm 91 had been the Scripture God used to covenant with her and her husband during a time of trauma in their ministry. God sees!
I could write many more stories like these. They show God’s loving attention to each unique woman, reminding her she is seen, loved, and a cherished daughter of the King.
