Many of the women who come to the Thrive retreat don’t even know how much they need a retreat until they get one.
Global workers are highly accustomed to serving—constantly being “on,” doing all they can to meet other people’s needs. So much so that many of them express a distinct discomfort at finding themselves on the receiving end of lavish care.
One woman said she couldn’t remember ever being the recipient of so much care and attention. Honestly, she didn’t quite know how to handle it.
Because serving others is their norm, these women often don’t even recognize how depleted they’ve become until they’re running on empty.
It is Thrive’s mission to fill up their tanks.
We do so by adopting a holistic approach to member care.
What does that mean, exactly, and how does Thrive do that?
Holistic replenishment means addressing the multifaceted aspects of care needed by global workers, including their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health needs.
Toward that end, Thrive invites attendees to enjoy pedicures, facials, haircuts, massages, and nutrition counseling to address their physical needs. These services—often routine care in their home countries—tend to be difficult to access in their countries of service.
On a spiritual level, Thrive offers opportunities to worship, pray, study, and learn from teachings in the Word, as well as meet one-on-one with spiritual directors, professional counselors, and life coaches to address mental and emotional health needs.
Thrive exists to encourage and empower global women to thrive on the field. As their Heavenly Father created these women to be multifaceted beings, we therefore aim to minister to them in that way—body, mind, soul, and spirit. In so doing, we pray that by the time they return to their place of service, these women will have sampled here just a tiny taste of God’s lavish love.
