Sing with the Psalmists

by KAREN BRADLEY CONFIDENCE Spiritual wellness
Sing with the Psalmists
“Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his steadfast love endures forever.”
Psalms 136:26

If I were a psalmist, what would I sing?

I would sing of the One who created the lavender flowers of the jacaranda tree, the great Rift Valley, the ibis and the elephant.

If I were a psalmist, what would I sing?

I would sing of the One who enables safe plane flights across the ocean, Bible translations, life-changing conversations with friends and even strangers.

If I were a psalmist, what would I sing?

I would sing of the One who offers comfort in times of sickness, grief, and frustration.

The psalmists turned to God and praised him as Creator and for his creation. They recounted his miraculous deeds on their behalf. They cried out to him in sickness and in sorrow. The psalmists turned to God, confident that He listened, that He answered, that He loved them. God’s greatest act of love, offering his own Son on our behalf, gives us the greatest reason to sing! Because of Jesus, we turn to Him, confident of His steadfast love for us.

Let’s sing with the psalmists!

“Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his steadfast love endures forever.” Psalm 136:26

Closing Prayer
Our heavenly Father, as we see the beauty of your creation, may we sing to you, confident in your steadfast love. As we remember how you’ve ordered our steps, may we sing to you, confident in your steadfast love. As we wade through sorrow, even then, may we sing to you, confident in your steadfast love. Because of Jesus, Amen.

I would sing a prayer for my children to walk closely with the Lord and for them to treasure His Word.
