I do not know what season of life you may be facing right now. Maybe you are in the throes of toddlers and babies. Or maybe you are launching your older kids into the world. You may be returning to your passport country to care for ailing parents or to welcome grandbabies. Or maybe you are crying out to the Lord about your singleness. Again.
Many say life goes in seasons. Some seasons are new and exciting; others, not so much. This psalm has been a balm to my heart during those challenging times and an encouragement during the exciting times.
Today, read this psalm and meditate on the words.
“I lift my eyes to the hills - where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip - he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD watches over you - the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm - he will watch over your life;
the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”
What season of life are you in this day? How did this psalm minister to you today?
As I am about to launch my youngest into the world, I am comforted by verse 8. God has watched my coming and going through my journey in life. He will watch over me until my time on earth is over. And with that thought, I am comforted to know that He will also do the same for my children. I can find peace in trusting Him.
