I’m one of the privileged people on Earth who’s been blessed to have traveled, seen, and lived beyond my state lines. With stamps from more than 20 countries in my passport, my heart carries both breathtaking sights and heart-wrenching needs; the comfort of luxury and the weight of suffering; awe-inspiring waterfalls in mountainous terrains and tall, fancy structures in poverty-stricken areas…back to back worlds of contrast that we humans have fabricated.
I’ve seen a lot and heard a lot and traveled a lot. Honestly, I sometimes get tired of the train rides and airport lines and document checks. But there is definitely something I don’t tire of–something that still gets me every time. And that’s grace.
Every time I meet a man with a past that’s unspeakable, God’s grace amazes me.
Every time I witness a child’s eyes light up from an Operation Christmas Child shoebox across the oceans, God’s grace amazes me.
Every time a wrinkled, elderly woman utters words of prayer on her deathbed, God’s grace amazes me.
Every time an ex-criminal humbly opens his mouth to sing praise, God’s grace amazes me.
Every time a dark-skinned, almond-eyed national preaches the gospel in his native tongue, God’s grace amazes me.
Every time I hold the hands of a hurting woman who’s been battered by life but found refuge in Him, God’s grace amazes me.
Every time the endless roads of steppe bring us to another house in a small, seemingly forgotten village where a homemade meal awaits us, God’s grace amazes me.
Because, truth is, there are no borders, roads, or villages too far away for His grace to reach. His love is much greater, bigger, and more powerful than anything we can even imagine.
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord”. Romans 8:38-39
And that’s amazing. Amazing Grace.
What are some examples of Titus 2:11, “God’s grace appearing to all people” that you’ve seen displayed in your life and ministry?
I believe the more we think and reflect on His grace, the more thankful and humbled we walk before our King. Nothing brings more joy to my heart than seeing the nations come bowing in worship; children, teens and adults from different backgrounds; found, forgiven, and forever changed by His Amazing Grace.
