What do we traditionally think about singleness and marriage? This is a dive into the core theology that informs not only how God sees us, but how we see one another in the spiritual family. We want to investigate spiritual offspring and how scripture points to the importance of spiritual family. Like the prophets of old, our marital status is a part of our message to the world that points to God. Let’s delve into perspectives that shape our personal lives and affect our relationships.
We will discuss what we learned from the research for our book, Sacred Siblings. Teammates are often unaware of how our own marital status impacts how we see one another. Gender also plays a role in ways we treat one another. We will discover practical principles that will give us a better understanding of one another. We will learn how teams can reflect our sacred sibling status and influence those around us.
What difference does marital status make in how others see us? What are the life choices or circumstances that often define us in the eyes of others? Is it being married or single? How do people perceive those who are divorced, widowed, or childless? Does being in a minority or majority affect how we view others or how they view us? Our status is not accidental, but part of God’s plan. Let’s look beyond the surface and learn how to value one another more deeply.
We often don’t even realize what our expectations and assumptions of others are. Because of that, we also miss how much they affect our viewpoints and relationships. We will examine what some of these expectations and assumptions are. We’ll also learn how to recognize, evaluate, and adapt perspectives. With renewed outlook, we can establish practices that enhance relationships and our gospel witness.
